PAYMENT

When somebody seeks the assistance of a therapist, it is often a result of an increasing sense of helplessness that has developed over a period of time. For that reason it is important to take as much stress as possible out of the payment process. Upon initial contact, I strive to address this issue as thoroughly as possible, so as the client has a full understanding of the payment process and options available to them.

POSSIBLE FREE FIRST SESSION

I know how important it is to find a therapist that is right for you. After all, this is not a one size fits all relationship. That is why I will make this offer to you. If after our first meeting either one of us finds that it is not the best fit, I will not charge you or your insurance company (Free Session). In fact, if you wish, I will even assist you with a qualified referral.

INSURANCE

I have a contractual agreement to work with the following health insurance companies:

Blue Cross of Massachusetts (all products including HMO Blue)
Aetna
Cigna
Medicare
Tufts
UBH
Harvard Pilgrim
Pacificare
Tricare/MHN
In the event that your insurance company is not listed here, please call your insurer to inquire about out of network benefits. We may still be able to work with them for reimbursement.

OTHER PAYMENT OPTIONS
Some people seeking services have no health insurance. Still others that do, prefer not to use their benefits to pay for mental health services. There are several reasons for this. In many cases using your insurance to pay for therapy may have unintended consequences. For one. in order to bill your insurance I must generate a medical diagnosis. In some cases this can effect the rate you pay for life insurance. Also, insurance companies may impose certain expectations that impact the number and frequency of visits, as well as the framework under which we work.

My usual fee for private pay clients is $130 per hour. I can and do make arrangements for people unable to afford this amount depending upon availability.

It is also important to mention that certain kinds of services may not qualify for insurance reimbursement. I will work out appropriate payment agreements in these cases as they arise.
